I don't think McCain is selling out America's future; the trend is going to be toward more world cooperation, no matter what. As a conservative I don't believe other countries care a hoot about our best interests and that we really ought to assess that as a nation, but it isn't going to be done anytime soon. We could figure this out: What's best for us ought to be best for other nations also. Instead, we don't know what we stand for anymore! Maybe this all gets pinned on the President now, as has been done to Bush. IE people blame him for high gas prices, which is ignorant. We have to step up and say what we want.

Obama is not Islamic. He's a liberal mainstream Christian. I'm going to give an unfettered opinion: Liberal Christians seem to believe they can pray in a fellowship of man. Maybe their chance to go ahead and give it a try is on its way.

Does McCain hate gays? IDK. I haven't listened to him enough. Gays are getting strong enough to fight their own battles. Unfortunately, they have enlisted the help of the California Supreme Court, who believes in legislative fiat, IMO. I think it's a bad thing. I believe in Tammy Bruce.

Does Obama hate Israel? If he did, it wouldn't be out of honest conviction. An open-minded person wouldn't write Israel off. There's so much to say for that nation, and much to detract, as well. I don't know enough.

I don't like the labels of Republican being tied to conservatism, nor Democrat being tied to liberalism anymore.

Liberalism is really a term that our founding fathers could be known as. What's called liberalism now is really not that.

I have to warn you, Bailey, my answer is slanted toward the position I find myself in: a mother of an Iraq war veteran who was sent into battle while medically unfit, and I've seen all the underhanded tactics used against our soldiers to keep them fighting, no matter how sick they are. I can't even begin to tell the contradictory things I've learned from IVAW (Iraq Veterans Against the War) members... horrific things that have gone against what this administration has been telling us.

I've tried to commit suicide because nobody was listening; I thought it was the only way to get my daughter home before she killed someone by mistake or was killed herself without a fighting chance. I got a "Dear Ma'am" form letter from the White House after I poured my heart out about what was happening to our soldiers.

I've protested in DC several times, and I've visited offices of lawmakers until they're sick of me.

Here's something I wrote on another site:

It really amazes me that some people STILL think that our being in Iraq has something to do with September 11!! Bush planned to attack Iraq as soon as he got into office; and Bush and Blair (after 9/11) agreed to "bend" the facts to support going to war. 9/11 just played into Bush's hands, that's why Bush did nothing about Clinton's report about Bin Laden planning to attack inside the US.

I don't know that any American president has sparked so many members of the military AND military family members to protest the war FROM THE BEGINNING. The Iraq war has sparked such massive protest. Of course, the members of the military who support the war believe that their own military service gives them the right to speak their minds; but they believe that OUR (members of Military Families Speak Out) family members do not have that same right. My own daughter has been told to "shut up and go back to Iraq", and much worse, by some disrespectful and unintelligent hecklers.

Our family members have seen things you would not believe with their own eyes; including American commanders telling young White soldiers to "Kill the sand Niggers", and American soldiers being ordered to shoot down unarmed Iraqis. They have seen orphaned children with their arms blown off by American attacks (it DOES sometimes get rid of one or two terrorists when we blow up a neighborhood!); and they have not been allowed to stop and help. They can help only if the journalists' cameras are rolling.

Are you aware that the Bush administration was given a proposal before the Iraq war by a number of Iraqi dissidents-- financially back us and we will take out Saddam for you! To me, that would have been the perfect solution but Bush could not get glory (or oil) out of that.

The SURGE?? To me that's like telling a serial killer that it's OK to kill 3 people a week instead of 9.

I do not believe that we, as a country, can be blessed by God for starting a war on lies and deception.

... so that is how I feel (greatly condensed), and I feel this war has made us much more unsafe. These people who are against the war but will vote for McCain because they don't want to vote for Obama are continuing the suffering of our (military) families and innocent Iraqis. I'm so frustrated; I wish I could shake people and wake them up!!!

To answer your questions:

1)Obama has never been Islamic

2)I don't think McCain hates gays, but he appears uncomfortable around them.

3)I don't think Obama hates Isreal, but believes as I do that Isreal CAN do wrong, and there is wrong and right on both sides.

I don't mean to soap box you, but I've been giving my heart and soul to this issue for nearly six years and I'm never giving up. If you knew what I know, you'd fight too.

This is the first year I've ever let anyone know how I'm voting. I'm going Obama and this is essentially why: We need a Leader who can Inspire people to do Better. That, and when I read up on him I was pleasantly surprised at his intelligence and political finesse. (I was a politician for a shockingly short and educational period - finesse is vital!) Do I expect him to solve all our problems. F- No! It is ridiculous to think that anyone can. But to inspire us to want to? Yes. I read somewhere that when he was a teenager his mother accused him of lacking any ambition. Funny!
