Dang, I'd be freaking. I can't watch TAPS without getting chills. I can't imagine having it in my house (although a part of me thinks it'd be cool just for the sake of experience).

Pete- It isn't that bad really. Thinking about it is actually scarier than when it happens. It's hard to explain that, but it's true. The day we came back from my husband's brother's funeral (Eddie just dropped over, instant death, after eating Easter dinner. He had helped a friend lift a snowmobile onto a trailer earlier in the day. They think the strain on his heart, took him. Their Dad died the same, shocking way, sadly at age 52. Eddie was a mere 45, with two boys...anyway.. (he was only one year older than my husband) 10 yrs ago, I was kind of talking out loud to Eddie in our bedroom. I thought I'd try to tell him how much we'd miss him, and how much we loved him. I was not sure,of course he could really hear me, but thought, what the heck?It's worth a try, and I was alone, so no one could laugh at my attempt to reach Eddie. Well, I no sooner finished saying that than the light by our bed, that was on the whole time I was talking to my husband's brother, went dim, not out, then back up to full light, then dim, then back, 3 times! I knew it was not the light or lightbulb, because it never did that again. Nothing else in the house did that. I asked everyone in the house, and it was full of mourners in our family and livingroom. It had a really peaceful effect on me once I decided Eddie's spirit was in our house for the wake.

My younger daughter had a similar experience in our 100-year-old home. She was working at her computer and thought one of us had walked up behind her and placed a hand on her head. She started to complain when she realized that the rest of the family was outside -- she was alone inside the house.

This computer station is near the back door, and my other daughter would come in that door when she'd return from her nights out with friends. On three separate occasions, she said she walked in the door and heard tapping on the computer keys -- she figured it was me. But when she got upstairs she saw that everyone was already asleep.

And I've occasionally heard voices -- like listening to a conversation through a cheap motel wall. I don't immediately connect that it's odd, usually assuming it's the TV on upstairs. But as soon as I hesitate and realize it's not the TV, the sound stops.

Whoever it is seems entirely benevolent, so other than being a little surprised at times, we haven't been too concerned.
