In 1974 I was 20 years old. My favorite song was Jungle Boogie, by Kool and The Gang.
The dance of the time was the bump! lol

I just looked up the top 100 hits of 1974 and couldn't decide. I guess Midnight at the Oasis. I was 26 in '74, a housewife with 3 little ones at home and I just remembered how the radio was always on in those days. I hadn't recalled that until now. We didn't have the tv on constantly, as young married parents we didn't have the money to buy every new album, but the radio was playing the background of our lives everyday. I remember dancing around the house with my little girl to "Oh My Oh MY" by Ringo and she thought that was so much fun! Thanks for the pleasant walk down memory lane this morning forum starter.
i was 8 going on 9 but i was always at the house parties and the garage parties and bbq's dancing my little heart out!!! my favorite group of all time was parliament/funkadelic and slave. i loved the following songs: big payback by james brown, rock your body by george mc crae, you little trustmaker, you're a heart breaker by the tymes, jungle boogie by kool and the gang, pick up the pieces by AWB (they were the bomb group, also)and only a schoolboy crush by AWB, boogie down by eddie kendricks, come on and do it, do it, do it till you're satisfied by BT Express, dancing machine by the jacksons (when michael was a black boy!), diamond in the back, sun roof top, diggin the scene with the gangster lean, whoo, whoo, who sung that song??? anything music related, i am in it!!!!

Yes, I really enjoyed the '70's. I love to turn on the Music Channels on cable on Saturdays as I do my housework and listen to the '70's channel. Makes me feel as young as I did then. My girls just loved Tony Orlando, the Osmonds and the Jackson Five. I have a busy and active life but I see how as you grow older memories become so poignant and tug at your heartstrings. You're too young for that now.
Oklahoma? From Long Beach? I don't know about that SD...
I just can't see that as the place to look for an open minded man....
Tell Me Something Good, Rufus
I was 13 and I loved Midnight at the Oasis, Dancing Machine, Big Payback, Bennie and the Jets.
I liked more of the pop stuff in '74.
(I was 15)
I listened to top forty radio and used to do my own countdown (ala Casy Kasem).
Was big into Chicago (their early albums) and Three Dog Night.
I had about a hundred albums at that time.
Big music lover (no doubt!).
Fave song of 1974 was probably....
Come on Baby Let's Go Downtown - Neil Young
(from Tonight's The Night)
