Not much going on here. I guess I expected some sort of structured approach to identifying shared values.
Maybe people aren't really interested in solving problems? Maybe they'd rather strike poses and be cynical.
I had the idea that we could take a polarizing issue and list our principle concerns. It will be hard fr me to create an example because I can't really see an issue from two sides.
For instance, I'd take "Immigration reform" as the polarizing issue, then each participant would list either goals of the reform, or problems they percieve would be created by a reform. To organize the input, each reply would have a tag indicating whether it's a goal or a problem, after we collected enough of them, we combine the responses into master lists and review them in a discussion.
Each respondednt would need to keep the body of their post very narrow in scope, say limited only to one problem or one goal.
