I would like to interject a position, a statement of fact, that may have been lost in all of the rhetoric we have heard over the last so many decades of the expansion of "political science". I is apparent to me that we have (mostly) all lost the ability to "Agree to Disagree". Whatever happened to it????
I love a good debate (you'll notice I specifically did not use the term argument, although it could be used - just misunderstood!!); good, intellectual debates about differences of opinion. When/where I grew up I remember my folks and their friends having very heated intellectual debates over family values, political issues, etc. and at the end of it all go out for a beer and have a good time.
With all the hoopla going on with the upcoming general election, I feel it is time for someone to standup and yell this at the rooftops - it's OK to disagree; just everyone please stop talking everything so personal. Talk really is cheap; it truly is our action that speak so loudly.
Comments????
Keith
