John Carter Warlord of Mars , Edgar Rice Burroughs beats it by a few decades . By "hoot" do you mean they are still fun reads or the series has aged comically ?I know I've read some Lin Carter in anthologies but I just can't distinguish his work .

By "hoot," it was a fun read and the series has somewhat aged comically. Lin Carter has written A lot of scifi/fantasy and its hasn't been the best nor the worst. As you said you "can't distinguish his works."

Dusting off the books was more nostalgia...reminiscing about going to the comic book store to buy a RAW published scifi/fantasy for a couple of bucks.
