Start with the book, "The Color of Magic." It's the best of them all (IMHO) and it sets up the entire Discworld for you. Then, you can jump over to "The Hogfather." I guarantee you'll never look at Santa quite the same.

When you see something like "The Hogfather" out of sequence and hadn't read the book, it must feel pretty bizarre. I found the picture on ION to be fuzzy and sometimes out of focus. Does anyone have the dvd? Is it better focused than what we were able to get here in the US? I see that Amazon is releasing it here in the US in March. Anyway, the reviews have been great but I was disappointed here and there. I thought that the character Susan was really well cast as were most of the actors. I think I would have liked to have seen a better looking DEATH and to have included DEATH RAVEN and deathrat. But that's just me. Ken is right about "The Color of Magic". Read it first if you're just beginning to read Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. He's really prolific and has many different groupings of books/characters. As you read through his books, you'll find your favorites. I love the Watch books best and I have no idea why. They just make me laugh. I just reread Pratchett & Gaiman's "Good Omens" and it is really great. I am saddened though about Pratchett's early onset Alzheimers. That totally sucks. He's talked recently about doing a follow up of "Good Omens" with Neil Gaiman - I hope he's able to do it.
Do you know if we'll get to see The Color of Magic movie? It aired in BBC this past easter, but I can't find any reports of teh US getting access to it.
