OK, Monday brings a new discussion thread...

I am wild for Conch Chowder and anything Grouper. Here in Tampa Bay we get a great deal of bounty from the sea. There are a lot of little 'fish shacks' to get amazing deep fried seafood.

Shrimp abounds and we enjoy it often. If you have never tried conch, it is a very pleasant tasting meat that is superb in both chowder and salad.

I normally don't like chain dining, but there is an amazing group of restaurants known as BONEFISH GRILL. We cannot recommend it highly enough. If you can find one, try the Butterfish when it is available.

So, what is your favorite seafood and where do you go to enjoy it?

Last week 6 of us were in the vicinity of a unique location (see url below) and we enjoyed an excellent lunch of fresh seafood.

Hi Doug

I live directly across the state from you. There a restaurant her called the New England Eatery that is fantastic. It's not as fancy as the Bonefish Grill (I love that place too) but its really good for a good old New England lunch or dinner.

My favorite seafood would have to be eaten at one of my family's steamed crab feasts. We get the big pot out on the propane grill fill it with beer, vinegar, Old Bay seasoning, blue crabs, shrimp, clams, corn and red potatoes. Steamed and then dumped on a table covered in newspaper. we eat for hours... heaven.

Hi James, I will let you know. You are one of the very few that I have been able to impress with this menu. Most people think it sounds good until they have to pull apart the crabs. My daughter in law used to keep a bowl of water by her side to rinse her crabs after she opened them. I have to admit we are a stinking, dripping, mess when this is happening. Not where you would want to wear your best shirt.

Hi Doug,

My favorite requires no cooking. Good ol' oysters on the half shell, with a little cocktail sauce & touch of the hot stuff. I could slurp those puppies all day. Back in the day, when I grew up in Central Fla., there was an Oyster Bar called Lee & Ricks - but I haven't been back in a while, don't know if it's the same.

On occasions when we are on A-1-A, we like to stop and check out the mom & pop "fish shacks" along the way - the litmus test is grouper sandwiches and conch fritters...what a way to go!

BTW, I have been to the Bonefish Grill, and you're right - they are excellent.
