Not that I am a fan of the term, but is there some more specific time frame that would be when "Old Shool" starts and ends?
I was a teenager during the 70s, so I remember that music pretty well, but is it "Old School". I grew up in Chicago and there used to be a radio program that came on Saturday nights, hosted by Richard Pegue, on WVON. It was called "The Best Music of Your Life" and he played what he termed "Dusties". Now anyone who remember LPs and 45s immediately knows why they got that name. He played a lot of music from the DooWop years, the late 50s and early 60s. Is that 'Old School' music as well?
What about Fats Waller, is he Old School? Or Louis Jordan, who was definitely the George Clinton of his time (The Timpani Five often had ten members in it, not to mention the funky music he played as well as the humor that was in it)? Or Louis Armstrong?
I find that as I age, I enjoy music much older than me a lot more, but i do not call it old school, just music. So what is Old School to you?
