"Sexually Liberated"? Someone actually said that in 2008? Wow. I would think regardless of being female or male, sexual responsibility would be the order of the day. HIV/AIDS continues to thrive in Black communities because of irresponsibility.

If there are (other) negative influences in our Black communities, it's from Black men abandoning their paternal responsibilities, and being allowed to get away with it, and Black "career" women opting to have children through non-traditional methods, i.e adoption, artificial insemination, etc. sans the man.

The feminist movement had positive points - like better working conditions, equal pay for equal work and equal representation in the community without motherhood or simply being female being a hindrance. We always here about the sexual aspects because sex sells, but there was so much more involved.

At the risk of getting a beatdown from my Black sistas, I will dare say that a woman who does make such statements is neither liberated or a lunatic - she's simply immature, regardless of age.

Uh, but remember, women's lib did not appear out of thin air - women, in general, would not have felt the need to be "liberated", sexually or otherwise, were it not for the behavior and practices of "some" men and society as a whole.

No,no one can explain it to you. WHat it is to you, ain't always what it is. You may not see or understand that black men's patronizing and objectifying of black women as something that we all needed to be liberated from, but we did and we still do.

If you are having sex with men, then you are in a position to judge others that have sex with men. If you are not having sex with men, sit down and be quiet about people who do. Sexual liberation or sexual lunacy? If there is sex and you are not involved is that your business?

Interesting that you equate "liberation" with "no emotional attachment" and "no expectation". I would define sexual liberation for women as the freedom to have sex with whomever they choose for whatever reason they choose. In fact, I would even go so far as to suggest that sexual liberation for women is simply freedom from the patriarchal, paternalistic, misogynistic, and otherwise oppressive roles in which men have placed them.

Now, I'm not suggesting that both men and women don't need to be more sexually responsible, but that's a whole other discussion.

Its sexual lunacy! You're not liberated because you can have sex whomever and for whatever reason. You are liberated when you can operate with some self-control and go for comittment rather quick gratification. Going for the quickie is easy. anyone can do that....but hunkering down to a work on committed relationship take guts! I don't believe these self proclaimed liberated "one-night standers" are even remotely satisfied or feeling all that "free and easy". I put thier morality and integrity into question. (that includes men!)

How is having sex with whomever and for ever reason sexually liberating? Sex is spiritually and mentally bonding…and every time you have sex with a different partner you come away a piece of your soul missing. For example, if you have sex with 10 or more people than you become confused and fragmented, you have bonded with too many people inside your soul. That is why people are so confused and emotional dejected because they have cast their precious pearls before too many swine to be trampled. You cannot bond intimately with 10 or more people and not be unscathed and expect to feel liberated when you leave a strangers bed. Furthermore…That kind of “hippy ethos” about sexual liberation) is garbage truck juice dripping from 60’s and 70’s “Free Love” bus generation. It says, sex should not strictly be confined to marriage, (that’s right I said Marriage not Monogamy) they are totally different”. You can expect no loyalty, or responsibility or consideration from people who operate within this mindset. It declares (I) have “right” to sleep around with anybody (I) want to, and (I) am not hurting anyone. (Its ALL ABOUT MEEEEE…and what IIIIIIIII want. On the contrary it hurts everybody, it destroys, families, damages emotions, breaks trusts, and teaches our children that is ok to be sexually irresponsible, and is passed on to the next generation just because “People want to LIBERATED” what an abuse of this word. Not to mention how it affects society with images of pornography and promotes to casual sex through media. I say being liberated is being able to commit to marriage, come “hell or high-waters, having some fortitude be a moral example and to show these one-night-standers and fornicators they cheating themselves from experiencing something wonderful. At the rate, people are dying from Aids, having teenage pregnancies, and divorcing because infidelity in marriages these days you would think people would have sense enough to realize, this so-called sexual liberation has high price pay with lots of damage control. Sex is very powerful and much too intoxicating to casually jump in and out of bed with “whomever and for whatever reason you want too”. It cost nothing to be whore …….or does it? WHOEVER CONTROLS YOUR BODY CONTROLS YOUR HEART, AND WHOEVER CONTROLS YOUR HEART, CONTROLS YOUR DEVOTION!
