I'm conducting an informal poll to see how many people think Dick Cheney should be impeached and if Congress should follow through with it.

I never take enough time to go to TBD so you can see why I'm late to discussion. Why has no one answered are they afraid we will be "listed." No one will impeach the current administration but I find it hard to believe they get away with acting as though this was a dictatorship. What's wrong that this could happen and can it be fixed?

Accountability is important- so many have suffered- OUR NATION / PEOPLE.
Now I may have a bit of HOPE for CHANGE , but BU**SH** was never elected president in an even remotely fair election. They should at least consider the facts.

Yes, he should be
It's either Impeach or allow war crimes and crimes against humanity to have precedence in policy.
In the first place, you might actually find out exactly what impeachment is. Essentially, it is the equivalent of Grand Jury indictment, voted on the the appropriate legislature. Assuming, for the moment, that the vote is affirmative, there is then a second legislative vote (after the appropriate resubmittal of evidence, etc) to determine guilt or innocence.
It is not, in and of itself, removal from office.
So assuming for the moment that enough votes (and its more than a simple majority) could be found for an indictment, you would then have to have a second trial.
By the time this could be done, not only would Mr Cheney be out of office but he would probably be in his grave. Why in the world would you ever want to waste all the time and money on doing something like that?
Wasting time and money is what we elect politicians for. politicians for

Well, something needs to be done. It's amazing how things just got swept under the rug, and people act like, "oh, wow, we don't want to think about all that now--we're too busy thinking about the presidential election, and besides, have you seen gas prices? Jeez, who has the time to think about all that old water-under-the-bridge?" Meanwhile, the powers of the executive branch have gone right over the top while no one was looking, and, of course, no president is going to want to give any of them back. Our whole national discussion about torture--should we torture prisoners, is it okay to torture prisoners, what exactly should be considered torture--is positively ludicrous. Why are we even having such a discussion? Torture? This is the United States! Honestly. And don't even get me started on preemptive warfare. Come on. We came up with every excuse in the book to stay out of World War II, and then we turn around and do this? WTF? This administration has turned this country on its head in so many ways, and it looks like people are just too tired of the whole thing, and would rather just let them get off scot-free. I believe that's a dangerous precedent, though, and at some point, they need to be held accountable.

I actually have been afraid to answer stuff like this in online forums for a long time because I have a surname that would attract attention from certain people who might be watching for dissent. It's not my maiden name, but my soon-to-be-ex's.... But lately, I've been relieved as more people seem to be more down on the administration--even the media. Not just the Daily Show and NPR, like for so long! So I'm relaxing a bit, and being a bit more public with my opinions.
