We do have a sense of humor. It is just that what we find funny is not the same as what Republicans and Libertarians find funny. I laugh a lot at some of the insane things that Republicans say and do.

I disagree. Liberals have a very strong (albeit whacky) sense of humor and irony. After all, they pushed for Hillary as a Presidential candidate, didn't they? And that was before she joked about sniper attacks.

Simply laughing does not necessarily indicate a sense of humor. Rapturous Idiots laugh all the time. Unfortunately, they are also entitled to vote--in this country at least.

In what might be considered an April Fool’s joke, the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday debated a 40-hour “ban” on homicide. Activists recommended the temporary ban on murder and violence to commemorate the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ’s assassination. Author Earl Ofari Hutchinson, president of the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, urged the city to make a “bold statement,” saying, “If this works, then the next logical thing is: If a city like Los Angeles can go 40 hours without one homicide, then why not 40 days?” Indeed! Why stop there? The debate got fairly heated at points. One critic mocked, “I’m sure that the people who are doing the killing will hear that the council is calling for a moratorium and then cease and desist. It’s more silliness from our wonderful City Council.” A councilman retorted, “That’s the kind of attitude that Martin Luther King had to step over and step across to get the job done.” In the end, the Council opted instead for a “bold statement” that encourages awareness and dialogue about “the root causes of violence and killing.”

To paraphrase Dr. King, we have a dream that one day even the city of Los Angeles, a desert city, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will outlaw homicide once and for all, just ask Sean Penn, George Clooney, Robbins, Sarandon, et al. That oughta stop it - no fooling...

Oh, OK, so when Randi Rhodes and Al Franken were lambasting the Repugnants, it was funny, but now the screw has wormed Liberal, it's not so funny? Randi's Suspension, (continued):

On Tuesday, Rhodes' appearance was posted on the online video Web site YouTube. She was quickly suspended from Air America.

"Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs, but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our hosts," Air America Chairman Charlie Kireker said in a press release. Ferraro later appeared on Fox News where she called on Rhodes to be fired.

Fellow Air America talker Sam Seder is filling in for Rhodes, whose show is broadcast from 3 to 7 PM EST. Rhodes has found herself in hot water for her commentary before.

In 2004, Rhodes compared the Bushes to the Corleone family of "The Godfather" fame and joked about the president being assassinated. "The Fredo of the [Bush] family is the president of the United States, so why doesn't his father or his brother ... take him out for a little fishing, and let him say some Hail Marys - he loves God so much ... You know, hail Mary full of grace, God is with thee - [gunshot sound]. Works for me," she said.

A year later, Rhodes aired another bit that made light of violence being waged against the president. "A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn't safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us," said a senior-sounding announcer. "Well here's your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [sound of gunshots] Just try it you little bastard [sound of gun being cocked]."

Rhodes later apologized for the skit after it was widely criticized by conservative bloggers. This is the first time Rhodes has been suspended by Air America, although she has a history of making similarly controversial remarks about prominent conservatives.

On June 20, 2007, amidst laughter over a recent bit mocking former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign, Rhodes said of Giuliani, "What a douche he is! What a douche! Rudy [sic] Tooty Fresh and Fruity is running for president and people are, like, buying it!" On May 15, 2007, Rhodes opened her show elated over news of evangelical preacher Jerry Falwell's recent death.

"Jerry Falwell has died at 73. A moment of silence, then giggle uncontrollably!" she said. She later added that she wasn't taking pleasure in Falwell's passing away, but was pleased that "he will not be around to blame gay people for everything anymore."

On Oct. 19, 2007, Rhodes said of Rush Limbaugh, "He could have never impregnated anybody up in high school. In high school, the only thing he probably impregnated was a gym sock. I mean look at him."

On another broadcast, Rhodes responded to Ann Coulter after she criticized the wives of four 9/11 victims, saying, "One thing Ann Coulter will never have to worry about is grieving over a dead husband ... You want to debate gay marriage? Ann Coulter is the reason why people go gay, if that's possible. "Foreplay for Ann Coulter is kicking a dog, you understand? This is the meanest bitch I've ever seen in my life," she added.

Rhodes has also had harsh words for Republican politicians over the years, including calling Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) "an old, evil gnome" and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) a "bitch."

Air America Radio could not be reached for comment. Rhodes has yet to address the controversy and could not be reached for comment.
