Yeah no check for me either so guess I won't have to just take it off my tax return lol. The last time they did this my friend was all excited because she was 'getting 500 bucks' from Uncle Sam. Then when she filed her taxes there it was! She had to deduct the $500 from the amount she would have gotten back (dunno whether she would have had to pay it back if she hadn't overpaid all year? probably). Remember how Pelosi kept saying timely, something else and temporay when she announced it? I bet that's why lol.

Now, about that 9 billion/month we're spending in Iraq...oh, nevermind

We, Americans got what we deserved. First time I went to vote it was in order to vote against corrupted local mayor, second time against Bush government. Since majority of people have supported Bush, now we have the president who is a laughing-stock.

I hope that Americans do better next time!

Start making things again and stop selling pizza to each other

Sure, as soon as people are willing to pay $5,000 more for their automobiles or twice as much for their cell phones or their clothing.

Things are made off-shore because labor is cheaper there.

If we start making, say, televisions, do we sell them only domestically? What about selling internationally? Well, we can't compete on cost per unit with any other country. US workers need to get paid at least minimum wage if they want to live at at least a subsistence level.

OTOH, an electronics worker in Jakarta, Beijing, Bangladesh or Mexico City can work for a few dollars per hour.

Pizzas are actually good things to sell to one another. Dough is made from wheat--someone's got to grow it, mill it, transport it, distribute it. Pizza uses meats and cheeses. Someone's got to raise the cattle and pigs and chickens, milk the cows, slaughter the meat animals, process all those raw ingredients into pepperoni, salami, cheese, chicken nuggets, whathaveyou. Someone else has to order all those ingredients and make them into pizzas then sell them to consumers, who in turn eat them and feed their families.

How about the government spends what they take in and take in less?

Good idea. Where do we cut? Which military or public education or health programs get the axe?

Let's put a face to this. I know someone who works in special education in a public school district. Parents of kids in special education want the best for those kids, which is understandable. But some parents want the best of everything. "I want my child to have these programs, this teacher's aide, this teacher, these special accommodation for his learning style, I want the school to pick him up and drop him off at my doorstep every day and I want him to progress an entire grade level in one semester." Fair enough--which other kid in that special ed department has her therapy reduced or eliminated because what you want for your child consumes 250% of the per-student budget and overloads already-overworked therapists, teachers and aides?

If Joe Citizen wants gov't to take in less, then he's got to accept less from the gov't. This is financial reality, and not many people realize it.

How about we look at Holland who lowered their corporate taxes to the lowest in the world and now have one of the fastest growing economies?

There's more to an economy than growth. IIRC (and I'm open to correction), Holland has cradle-to-grave social welfare programs. Someone has to pay for those programs. Corporate taxes contributed to those costs and now that those taxes are slashed, where will the missing revenue come from? Either Holland looks for loose change under Belgium's couch cushions or the Dutch gov't raises taxes on individuals and/or cuts other programs.

BTW, Domino's doesn't, as a practice, hire illegals.

I am going to break this to you gently but you might wish to actually take a look at the results of the last tax rebate back in 2001.

I am generally not a fan of rebates. we have one here in New Jersey that is nothing short of a cruel joke (i.e. paying the state government money so that they can give it back to us). But I am more than willing to learn from someone who has actually studied the situation and, unless information comes forth that proves this one false, I'm not willing to pooh-pooh it out of hand.
