What I hear when people postulate their political beliefs is often the fear that one's ideology, (core beliefs), will be threatened by the, "OTHERSIDE," (without really knowing what the otherside is about). For me: I believe in a strong defense AND that every conceivable means of diplomacy should be exhausted before the lives of children, (whatever their nationality), be sacrificed. I believe our taxes are well spent caring for those who are unable to care for themselves,(an example being our nation's mentally ill; wandering the streets, alone, mistreated, hungry and afraid. Their needs are far greater than the occasional church relief or non-profit shelters are able to provide. I haven't seen either party jump in to resolve the neglect of our most vulnerable citizens).
I believe that industry within the private sector should absolutely contribute to the wellbeing of surrounding communities and will patronize organizations that do so.
I believe that we've given big business the opportunity to meet their obligations to their employees and the consumers; yes the very people that made their success possible, and they have failed. Coming from a previously conservative persceptive, I want to believe the private sector will care for the disadvantaged; but clearly, that has not been the case; I think we all, each of us, have a valuable contribution to make and every person should be so valued.
For this election, I will truly listen and learn all I can before I walk into the ballot box and this time my vote will not be based on party affiliation.
What do you think?
