Photos: Mammals at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.

Monkeys, elephants, small mammals and more at the Smithsonian's National Zoo.

Giant anteater

The largest of the anteater species has a two-foot-long tongue, which it uses to pick up termites and ants. Giant anteaters have poor vision but an excellent sense of smell.
