Xtreme Eating 2011: America's most offensively caloric meals

D.C.'s Center for Science in the Public Interest has announced its Xtreme Eating 2011 [pdf] awards for the most offensively caloric meals in the nation. "If Americans are feeling more than a little full when lumbering out of The Cheesecake Factory, Applebee's, Denny's and other chains, it's probably not in their heads. It's as if the restaurants were targeting the remaining one out of three Americans who are still normal weight," said CSPI Nutrition Director Bonnie Liebman. Where possible, we've compared the restaurant's depiction with a diner's photo. And beware the official calorie counts, which could be frighteningly inaccurate.

This burger is topped with grilled pork belly, cheddar cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato, and a fried egg: 1,530 calories.
