When you're surrounded by Masonic marble fantasies and museums shaped like castles and doughnuts, it's sometimes hard to notice the region's everyday oddball buildings. A survey of some of those.

Third Church of Christ, Scientist

Araldo Cossutta's brutalist Christian Science church on 16th Street NW is despised by many. In 2009, after a long battle with preservationists, the church got the go-ahead to tear this down.
