Black History Invitational Swim Meet: Going with the flow

Kids from 30 national teams gathered in D.C. last weekend for some healthy competition.

Josiah Lawson, 8, with the Newark (N.J.) Piranhas Swim Team, stretches out before his afternoon heat while his father Kevin and twin brother Jamarius get some lunch. Hosted by the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation at the Takoma Aquatic Facility, the 26th Annual Black History Invitational Swim Meet gathered over 30 teams, whose minority athletes ranged in age from 8-18 and traveled from across the U.S., for a three-day competition.
