D.C. rallies to save home of former paramedic
Occupy Our Homes DC on Monday rallied to help stop the eviction of Deborah Harris. Harris worked for 23 years as a Paramedic EMT with the D.C. Fire Department before suffering an injury on the job, causing her to fall behind on her mortgage.
The protest in support of Harris began at noon in front of a Freddie Mac office in Chinatown, where Marc Smith poured sugar into his coffee. Smith said he's been with Occupy since October and has been arrested twice since then, once while demonstrating with Occupy D.C. and another time with Occupy Wall Street.
