Getting elevated: The Ring Building's elevator operators
It's insight into the world behind something that we all use so often: elevators. But how about their operators? Take a look.
These photos show the Ring Building under construction in October 1946 from 18th Street (left) and M Street (right). Joan Hart, comptroller of Ring Associates, LLC, said there used to be another building farther up Connecticut Ave. with elevator operators, but they modernized several years ago. Now she thinks it's down to the Ring Building and Senate offices at the U.S. Capitol.
