Girl Scouts celebrate 100th anniversary
An estimated 200,000 Girl Scouts came to D.C. to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Some of them got to watch as the artist known as GAIA, made finishing touches on his likeness of Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low on Sunday at the National Portrait Gallery.
Alissa Stanley, 8, a member of troop 7358 from Southeast Michigan, sat with another likeness of Low that's part of "The Extra Mile," a series of giant coin-shaped portraits embedded in downtown D.C. sidewalks that celebrate famous American volunteers.
