Metro station name changes: A history of the system's changing titles

Ever since the original five Red Line stations opened in 1976, Metro has expanded to great lengths. Since then, changing geographic features have forced stations to swap names on a regular basis. As compiled by Greater Greater Washington, here's a brief history of Metro's name changes.

1986 - Gallery Place

10 years after the system opened, Gallery Place added Chinatown to the name.
