Mixing it up in D.C.: Specialty cocktails from local bartenders

Bartenders at local bars: Room 11, Bar Pilar and Marvin walked us through their specialty drinks and even provided their formulas for mixing up the drinks! Before you head out for your happy hour, take a look.

Caroline Block, who also works at Marvin, with Pierangeli's "Moonshake Sour," made with 1 oz. Old Overholt rye whiskey, 1 oz. Laird's Applejack Brandy, 3/4 oz. fresh lemon, 1/2 oz. simple syrup (1:1 ratio of water to sugar), and two dashes of Fee Brothers Old Fashioned Bitters. Shake, double strain into a chilled rocks glass, and garnish with a flag (a brandied cherry and an orange slice).
