My involvement with records and music goes back to the late '60s as a collector and fan, as well as editor and writer for numerous publications, including Los Angeles Times, Musician's News, San Francisco Chronicle, Stagebill, Alternative Press, Goldmine, Marin Independent Journal, and SF Live.
Before I became an appraiser of music memorabilia, I searched high and low throughout the country for anybody else who offered formal appraisal services in the same area. I found none, nada, zilch. So I dived in. I actively pursued formal appraisal training and certification through a professional organization, the American Society of Appraisers (http://www.appraisers.org). I also joined the Association of Recorded Sound Collections (http://www.arsc-audio.org/index.html).
