Safe Sex: My man won't use a rubber because I'm in menopause. I dread STDs.

Do's and Don'ts:

STDs are most prevalent among people under 30. But they are by no means rare in older folks. It's totally prudent and reasonable to insist on safe sex (condoms) in dating relationships that become sexual at any age.

If a lover is not as committed to safe sex as you are, you'll have to be the one to enforce it. Stick to your guns.

Say This:

I'd love to be sexual with you, but I have a rule: Safe sex or no sex. Period. How do you feel about that?

I remember seeing a billboard in West Hollywood that said "No glove, no love."

Just had a run in with this very issue! I was in the early stages of a new relationship. The first few times it was no problem...then it became something we ended up discussing (usually in the middle of "the act") every time we had sex. I finally just sat him down and told him I would NOT be having sex with him anymore. We remained friends and even went out a few more times. When he saw I meant it he kind of drifted away. He of course had promised he would behave better in the future but it was to late for me! Good luck!
