D.C. Public Schools: Increasing number meet benchmarks, others fall further behind
Students in D.C. Public Schools are getting smarter, sort of. Fifty-two public schools met federal benchmarks for achievements in math and reading — 15 more schools than last year — but 28 more schools "need improvement," for a total of 163. The achievement gap between whites/asians and Hispanics/blacks remains.
