Mike Conneen Reporter
Mike Conneen is a reporter and anchor. He joined NewsChannel 8 in June 2008.
Before coming to our nation's capital, Mike worked for KNAZ/KPNX in Flagstaff/Phoenix, KXRM in Colorado Springs and KUSA in Denver. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a bachelor's degree in broadcast news. He also studied Spanish at the University of Seville.
Mike's most memorable stories include the arrest of fugitive polygamist leader Warren Jeffs, the deadly shooting rampage at New Life Church, the Ted Haggard sex scandal, the 2008 election and 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama and a two-week special assignment in the Philippines (Northern Samar) with International Surgical Missions.
Mike hails from Colorado, but he often visited the Washington region as a youngster. His parents are natives of Baltimore. His grandfather, John Cochran, served as Postmaster of Washington, D.C. in the 1980s. His family has also spent several summers in Bethany Beach and Ocean City.
Mike currently lives in Northwest Washington. He is a proud supporter of the Yellow Ribbon Fund at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He is a member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. In his free time, he enjoys traveling near and far, exploring local museums and spending time with his family and friends.
