Natasha Barrett Reporter/

Natasha Barrett

I contribute live reports to ABC7/WJLA-TV at 5 and 6 p.m. I also host the daily talk show Let's Talk Live on NewsChannel 8.

I'm from Houston, Texas, and am a graduate of American University in Washington, where I double-majored, earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Computer Information Systems.

After working behind the scenes at CNBC Europe in London and CBS News in Washington, I began reporting. At the start of my career, I worked in Corpus Christi, Texas, where I covered several national stories and the Naval Air Station

A short time later, I moved to KCEN, the NBC affiliate in Waco, Texas. During the tragic Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, I found myself broadcasting national news as events unfolded. I covered numerous historical events while not far from one of the largest Army posts in the world, Fort Hood, and world leaders meeting at President Bush’s Crawford Ranch. I also reported from devastated areas after tornadoes touched down, while focusing on historical post events surrounding the attacks of September 11th. For my hard work and diligence, I was honored by the Texas Associated Press with a Breaking News award.

My next assignment led me to the east coast at WVEC, the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia. While there, I uncovered an ongoing deadly exposure of lead contamination to police officers, led police in apprehending a child predator and assisted in the apprehension of a serial robber. Again, I was recognized, receiving a Best Investigative Reporting award from the Virginia Associated Press. I also traveled extensively, covering several major hurricanes, including Isabel in Hampton Roads, Ivan in Alabama and Florida, and Ophelia in North Carolina.

I joined ABC7/WJLA-TV in 2006. In my spare time, I support Law Enforcement United, Vietnam Veterans, enjoy traveling and spending time with my family.
