Philip Stewart

Philip Stewart is an award-winning reporter who joined the ABC 7/WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8 team in December 2007.

Philip has covered a number of major stories including Pope Benedict XVI’s 2008 visit to Washington, the Virginia Tech Shootings, Queen Elizabeth II’s 2007 visit to Virginia, presidential inaugurations, and multiple local, state, and national elections.

He’s a recipient of Emmy and Associated Press awards for his reporting and photography.

Though originally from Pittsburgh, Philip is no stranger to the Washington region. He attended American University where he earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism. During that time he interned with local and national news organizations in New York and D.C., including ABC News, NBC News, Fox News Channel, and WRC-TV/NBC4.

Philip began his career at the Washington Bureau of the Associated Press before getting his first television job as a reporter and weekend anchor at WCAV-TV in Charlottesville, Va.
