D.C. voting-rights rally still piggybacking on MLK Memorial dedication

With the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial dedication ceremony rescheduled for Oct. 16, it was only a matter of time before Mayor Vince Gray's piggybacking event, the wordy "D.C. Full Democracy Freedom Rally and March," would do the same. Let's hope the actual march has more success than that "social-media march" that failed to trend on Twitter.

Mayor Vince Gray, being a politician, sees opportunity in the week-long celebration surrounding the opening of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. Knowing the national spotlight will flit across the District this week, he's holding the Full Democracy Freedom Rally, which piggybacks on King's legacy by demanding voting rights for D.C. residents. And because he's sick and tired of people not attending these rallies, he's made it easier this time around: Just march online.
