Everyone knows I’m a huge Julia’s Empanadas fan, but my friends and I had to try out the new Panas Gourmet Empanadas in Dupont. The verdict? Julia’s will remain my late-night empanada fling, while Panas — appropriately named after the Spanish slang for “buddy,” — is more of my empanada friend (friend with benefits, though.)

Officials say the smoke is coming from an underground electrical transformer that continues to burn. Fire crews are standing by waiting for Pepco to respond to the scene.

Darlington House Brunch
I’ve always thought the Darlington House was a charming locale. Within the historic Victorian row house in Dupont Circle, the restaurant has three very different settings. Downstairs, there is the cantina pub and patio – a rustic wooden bar area with ample outdoor seating, which is more mod than pub. On the second floor, there is the shabby-chic dining area – damask chairs, tablecloths, tea roses, and chandeliers are contrasted by framed D.C. street art.
