2010 is drawing to a close, and with it comes a flurry of year-in-review lists. The List is not pleased to see so many reporters infringing on her list-making territory. Determined to come out on top, The List got democratic and turned to the public for the end-of-year lists they would most like to read. The people have spoken. These are their demands.

  1. Top animal rescues of 2010

Conni recounts a friend’s tale of finding a lost dog and returning it to its owner. “Stories like that,” she says, would make the best list.

  2. Top happy endings of 2010 with no murders and no divorce allowed

“I’m tired of all the nasty news,” says Sharon. “How many murders and all that.” She’d like a list of happy endings. “How many marriages, not how many divorces. How many new stores opened in the area? How many new businesses?”

  3. Top prices in D.C. that should be lowered

Michelle suggests focusing on transportation. “They should lower the Metro station prices,” she says. “And lower the gas. Yeah.”

  4. Top ways to make our lives more convenient

Michelle didn’t stop at transportation costs. She also wants a list devoted to “making our lives more convenient.” She demurs when asked for suggestions.

  5. Top movies of 2010

Laura says she likes “that style” of list, and has some suggestions. “The Tourist,” she says. “The Black Swan, too.” There’s a third film, which she describes as similar to the show ER, that she would like to include, but the title escapes her.

  6. Top anything but movies of 2010

“I’m not interested in seeing new movies,” says Michelle icily.

Great list, Jenny. I look forward to seeing all of your 2011 lists - and don't let anyone else encroach on your list territory!!
