Tired of treadmills? Eaten too much macaroni or tater tots? Or just want to get out of the wind?? The List has compiled a series of dance studios around town offering one-time classes in everything from the topical (Glee choreography) to the nostalgic (hula hoop-themed). Drop in and dance your pants off.

  1. MamaSita Studios, 6906 4th St. NW, D.C.

    $18 a class; unlimited one-week pass for first-timers for $25. Belly dance, samba, salsa, and hand dance (!) available.

  2. Dance Bethesda, 8227 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda

    $15 a class; two-for-one for the Valentine's Day social. Waltz, fox trot, tango, salsa, cha-cha, rumba, and swing.

  3. Dance Institute of Washington, 3400 14th St. D.C.

    $15 a class. Hip hop, jazz fusion, ballet, belly dance.

  4. Joy of Motion Dance Center, various locations.

    $17 a class with a Valentine's special for social dance class: buy one get the second 50 percent off. Ballet, jazz, hip hop, Broadway, tap.

  5. Born 2 Dance Studios, 305 Maple Ave. W, Vienna

    $15 for hour-long sessions in everything from ballet to exotic. Highlight: break dancing.

  6. Dance Place, 3225 8th St. NE, D.C.

    First class is $15; upon completion, new students receive a coupon for free second class. Highlights: African dance and hoop dancing (elaborate aerobic dance class with a hula hoop).

  7. DC Dance Collective, 4908 Wisconsin Ave. NW, D.C.

    $15 annual registration fee plus $17 for a 1-hour drop-in class. Classes include tap, flamenco, locking, tango, Bollywood, hula, Irish, and Sri Lankan dance.

  8. Sahara Dance, multiple locations in D.C. and Silver Spring

    No drop-in classes, but first-timers can get a one-time guest pass for $15 with an option of putting that toward the $140 registration fee for an 8-week course. Belly dance.

  9. Washington School of Ballet, 3513 Wisconsin Ave. NW, D.C.

    $15 for a drop-in class, or $130 for 10 classes. Ballet classes at all levels, including zero experience.

  10. BTI Dance Institute, 1643 Connecticut Ave. NW, D.C.

    One-week unlimited class offer for new students only, $20. Class highlight: Glee Dance, a combo of jazz, Broadway, and modern choreography. Classes resume February 15.

  11. The P Spot, 518 10th St. NE, D.C.

    Walk-ins pay $20 per class; register in advance for $15. Classes include hip hop dancerobics, zumbarobics, and a variety of pole-related fitness classes.

    Dhoonya Dance offers drop-in classes in Bollywood in Arlington at Saffron Dance studio. Same instructor as Born 2 Dance (a fine studio as well) but Metro-accessible.
